Founded in 1983 by Joseph and Susan Rivera with the help of their close friends and family, Joe Jr., Lori and Jeff, Larry, Pro-Torque has grown from a small, local torque converter rebuilder, to a complete R&D facility with full manufacturing facilities and world-wide marketing and sales capabilities. This growth has forced Pro-Torque to move to a new state-of-the-art facility located on Long Island, New York-not far from the shop where Joe Sr. started his business in 1983.At the core of Pro-Torque is a basic philosophy: Quality doesn't cost, it pays. Since its inception, Pro-Torque has focused on quality and quality has been the reason for their phenomenal growth and loyal customers.

Joe Sr's has been in this business for over 45 years and that experience is evident everywhere you look at Pro-Torque. He has designed and built much of Pro-Torque's machinery and he still takes part in training new technicians. Joe Sr. has a strong presence in the manufacturing plant where his "get things done" attitude is put into practice.

Pro-Torque's product line includes the highest quality remanufactured torque converters available, and we specialize in hard-to -find units including imports, antiques and industrial models. But ever since Joe Sr's research and development project on his own Street rod projects, high performance torque converters have been their passion. Pro-Torque is on the quest to produce the most advanced high performance torque converters for performance transmissions available.

The transition to the next generation of torque converters has been led by Joe Rivera Jr. who literally grew up in this business.  Working part time as a helper where his father was employed since we was a teenager he went full steam ahead right after school.  For any of you who have met Joe you will know that you will find very few people in this business that have the same level  passion and energy about the transmission industry.  From new online ordering capability to the implementation of CNC Machining in the manufacturing process, Joe is considered an industry leader in custom-built torque converters. This second generation  Joe Jr. (whose motto is "knowledge is power …but actions are powerful") has brought an immense knowledge of computers to the business that has catapulted Pro-Torque to the forefront of the torque converter industry.  He stays very active in many of the industry internet message boards and communities.  As well as serving as President of the TCRA (Torque Converter Rebuilders Association)

One example of our focus on the future has been our dedication to the internet. We were one of the first torque converter companies on the web. The internet will be the way we do business in the future. We are currently working on an online ordering system as well as an online catalog. We put up on our site as much technical information as possible so you, the consumer, can make an educated choice when selecting a torque converter. (Please note that this information is separate from our ordering information. Our goal is to educate the consumer first.)
