ProTorque is happy to announce an addition to our website and Facebook Fan Page. We have started a gallery of pictures featuring "The Women Of Team ProTorque " wearing ProTorque gear. This gallery was inspired by Kelly Lynch and others who were sending us pictures of themselves in our gear. We thought it would be a great way to honor our team mates, fans and friends as well as raise a few dollars for breast cancer research and support to turn the creation of this gallery into an event. The fundraising was in two parts. One part allowed anyone to make a direct donation to the National Breast Cancer Research Foundation through a link we set up and posted on our website and Facebook Fan Page, the second part was a donation by ProTorque to "Men Against Breast Cancer" in the names of drawing winners. The drawing was based on the pictures submitted to ProTorque for inclusion in the Gallery during the month of October. The winners of the drawing were Kat Caldwell, Katie Gilbert and Robin Whiteford-Gantt; each of these ladies received a $50 gift certificate to Victoria's Secret and a $50 donation made in their name to "Men Against Breast Cancer" an organization that helps men help the women they love deal with the issues of this devastating illness. It is ProTorque's intention to continue to sponsor activities and fund raisers throughout the year, spotlighting members of our teams, charities that are near and dear to the hearts of our team members, and the fun and sheer joy of the sport of drag racing..

Team ProTorque Dominates Major Events in September

Team ProTorque lived up to its mantra of "Total Domination" at the big races in September, scoring NHRA Pro Mod, Outlaw 10.5 and Drag Radial victories at major events all across the country.

ProTorque's REVOLUTION torque converters powered NHRA Pro Mod racers to three victories with Brad Brand capturing Indy, Leah Pruett on top in Charlotte and Troy Coughlin sealing the deal in Kansas. Adding to this dominating performance, Donnie Walsh qualified number one at all three consecutive races.

Nothing showcases ProTorque's ability to manage power delivery better than "small-tire" racing. The much-anticipated and anxiously-awaited "Radial Revolution No Mercy III" showdown at South Georgia Motorsports Park pitted the world's fastest Outlaw 10.5 and Drag Radial cars against each other. When the smoke finally cleared, Team ProTorque's Tim Lynch had posted low ET at 4.22, then plowed through a tough 32-car Outlaw 10.5 field to defeat ProTorque Teammate Mark Kyger in the final.

In Radial vs the World, Team ProTorque teammates Kyle Heutell and Frank Soldridge met in the final with Kyle taking the win and Frank the runner-up spot. Other ProTorque highlights at No Mercy included Jason Enos posting the top speed of 187 mph in Outlaw 10.5, Kyle Heutell setting the NOS Outlaw 10.5 ET record at 4.30 seconds and Steve Jackson qualifying number one in Radial Vs The World.

September also saw many Team ProTorque racers set new milestones including Sal Patel's Viper becoming the first IRS car in the sixes with a 6.98 at 207-mph run at MIR. Here's a partial list of Team ProTorque's outstanding success in September:

COUGHLIN RACES TO FIRST NHRA PRO MOD SERIES VICTORY IN ST. LOUIS

By ProTorque - 10/6/2012

COUGHLIN RACES TO FIRST NHRA PRO MOD SERIES VICTORY IN ST. LOUIS With ProTorqueTroy Coughlin raced to the NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series presented by ProCare Rx victory Sunday at the AAA Insurance NHRA Midwest Nationals at Gateway Motorsports Park.

Coughlin outran Danny Rowe in the final round to score his first career victory in the high-horsepower doorslammer category and move to third in the points standings with only one race remaining in the NHRA Pro Mod season.

Coughlin powered his turbocharged JEGS.com '68 Camaro to a final round performance of 5.873 seconds at 257.58 mph to take the victory over Rowe, who had problems getting his supercharged Sterling Bridge '68 Camaro to start for the final. Once Rowe got his machine fired, the car had issues going down the track and finished in 6.732 at 179.42.

"When I let the button go at the starting line in the final, I knew it was over when I didn't see him, because those blower cars accelerate fast," Coughlin said. "From then on, I just focused on making a clean run. It was just our time to win."

Coughlin defeated Rickie Smith, Charlotte winner Leah Pruett and Pete Farber to advance to the final round. Coughlin is a three-time winner in NHRA Pro Stock competition and he claimed a 2005 Pro Mod exhibition victory in Englishtown, N.J., but this is his first Wally in official NHRA Pro Mod competition.

"My guys Steve Petty, Bryan Metzenheim, Mike Rees, Nick Gaylord, all the folks at JEGS.com deserve all the credit in the world," Coughlin said. "Pro Line, our engine shop, has given us a fantastic race car all year. We beat a five-star team today."

Coughlin moves to third in the points standings, 42 back of leader Mike Castellana and one point back of second-place Smith.

"Going into the last race out in Vegas with this kind of momentum is important," Coughlin said. "There are still some spots up for grabs and everything is still pretty tight. Any time you can go to the end of an NHRA season and be in the running for a top three for four spot in your class, that's saying something."

The NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series presented by ProCare Rx world champion will be crowned at the season-finale, Oct. 25-28, during the Big O Tires NHRA Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Leah Pruett NHRA Pro Mod Win - 5 Of Top 10 Use ProTorque Converters

By ProTorque - 9/25/2012

Leah Pruett NHRA Pro Mod Win - 5 Of Top 10 Use ProTorque ConvertersNHRA and ProTorque Racing Torque Converters 5 out of 10 top qualifiers using ProTorque Including Number 1 qualifier Donnie Walsh with the bonus of Leah Pruett taking the win.

After a week chock full of headlines regarding her future racing plans, NHRA Pro Modified racer Leah Pruett decided to take the stories in a different direction.

Pruett raced to her first victory of the season Sunday in the NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series presented by ProCare Rx portion of the O'Reilly Auto Parts NHRA Nationals presented by Super Start Batteries. The victory marked her second victory in three final round appearances at zMAX Dragway, as well as her third career victory by outrunning Mike Knowles in the final round. With the victory she moves to fourth in the points standings.

"It feels phenomenal," Pruett said. "To think that the three times I've been here in this car, I've reached the finals all three times and won twice. At the beginning of this race, I had a good feeling about getting to the final round and back in the winner's circle."

Pruett, who qualified ninth in her ProCare Rx Ford Mustang, raced to early round wins over team owner Roger Burgess, top qualifier Don Walsh and Kevin McCurdy. In the final she powered her Mustang to a winning performance of 5.936 seconds at 246.44, while Knowles shut off his '68 Camaro near mid-track.

"That final round was one of the edgiest passes I've had in this car in a long time," Pruett said. "If it would have been anything but a final round, there would have been a little bit of lifting going on. It was pretty gnarly. All I knew was that I didn't see him, which means I was in front of him. All that meant I had to keep going. That would have been the worst feeling in the world to see someone go flying by you."

Mike Castellana advanced to the semifinals and maintained his series points lead over second place Rickie Smith, who lost in the first round.

The penultimate race in the 10-event NHRA Pro Mod Series presented by ProCare Rx will be held Sept. 28-30 with the AAA Insurance NHRA Midwest Nationals at the Gateway Motorsports Park near St. Louis.

Brad Brand NHRA Pro Mod Win

By ProTorque - 9/25/2012

Brad Brand NHRA Pro Mod Win Driving the same car that Eric Dillard drove to victory at Indy last year, Brad Brand raced to the NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series presented by ProCare Rx victory Sunday from the No. 16 qualifying position at the Mac Tools U.S. Nationals presented by Auto-Plus, the world's most prestigious drag race.

The Georgia-based driver defeated top qualifier Don Walsh with a powerful run in his R2B2 Racing 1953 Corvette in the opening round and never looked back as he took his first career victory at the rain-delayed event at historic Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis.

Brand started the rain-delayed event as the crew chief for the R2B2 Racing's two turbo powered entries in the NHRA Pro Mod Series presented by ProCare Rx. When the rains pushed racing to a second weekend, driver/team owner Roger Burgess couldn't make it back to resume the race.

The figurative keys to the ProCare Rx Chevy Corvette were turned over to Brand with one opportunity to make the field.

"I really thought I'd be able to get down the track," Brand said. "The air was so good yesterday that we had more power than we've had for this car all season. I missed it pretty bad."

So bad, in fact, that Brand qualified No. 17 and initially didn't make race. Luckily, some racers who were at Lucas Oil Raceway for the first weekend, couldn't make it back for the second. Brand, as first alternate, got into the field as the No. 16 qualified car.

"We got lucky," Brand said. "I knew if we turned the power down, we'd still go fast."

Brand was fast enough to beat No. 1 qualifier Don Walsh in the first round on Sunday morning then followed it up with wins over Steve Matusek, Rickie Smith and finally Mike Castellana in the final.

"I think it's safe to say we made some good calls today," Brand said. "Good calls, great team, no parts breakages. It's a pretty nice feeling. We've been so close this year, I'm so glad it all came together today and Roger saying for me to treat the car like it's my own."

In the final against Castellana, Brand made his second-best pass of the day: a 5.914 second lap at 251.63 mph. Castellana shook the tires at about 100 feet and limped home with a pass of 12.763 seconds at 83.97 mph.

Brand's teammate, Leah Pruett, got to exorcise some Indy demons herself, getting a first-round win over Donald Martin before falling in the second round to Smith.

"I'm thrilled I got to the second round," Pruett said. "And you couldn't ask for anything better than having your team win the race. I feel like I'm now back on a upward swing. We're really getting the cars figured out the way we want them to.

"I've been really impressed with the unity of our team, it can be rare to have a group where everyone gets along and enjoys working together."

Against Martin, Pruett had her best pass of the event with a lap in 5.920 seconds at 248.25 mph. Martin had problems and ran a 12.940 at 63.62 mph.

In the second round, Pruett lost to Smith on a hole shot. Smith enjoyed a solid advantage out of the gate (.037 seconds to .060 for Pruett) and held off Pruett's 5.958 second charge at 248.84 mph. Smith ran a 5.967 at 242.98 mph, using his starting line advantage to get the win.

With the runner-up finish, Castellana moved to first place, four points ahead of Smith in the season points standings.

The NHRA Pro Mod Series continues this coming weekend (Sep. 14-16), with the O'Reilly Auto Parts NHRA Nationals presented by Super Start Batteries at zMAX Dragway near Charlotte, NC.

Dennis Sugrue Secures ADRL XTF Win At Memphis All ProTorque Final

By ProTorque - 9/25/2012

Dennis Sugrue Secures ADRL XTF Win At Memphis All ProTorque FinalA pair of unlikely combatants settled the Extreme 10.5 final Sep. 8, at Memphis International Raceway, where ADRL rookie Dennis Sugrue defeated Lamar Swindoll Jr. to take the Memphis Drags III title home to Austin, TX; Both Team ProTorque Members Running Our Converters.

"I really don't know what to say other than it was all about these guys," Sugrue said in victory lane, gesturing toward crew chief Craig Pullin, chassis specialist Bill Buck and first-time helper Johnny Mueller. "They got me here, it's all about them."

Former class champion Billy Glidden clearly was the class of the field in Memphis, qualifying in first place with a track record 3.937-seconds at 188.15 mph in his nitrous-boosted 2010 Mustang.

Swindoll qualified his twin-turboed '68 Camaro fourth with a 4.118 at 193.16 pass and Sugrue started sixth of just seven entries with a 4.198 at 189.31 in his twin-turbocharged '04 Cavalier.

Swindoll, from Pasadena, TX, narrowly defeated teammate Todd Moyer with a .014 holeshot in round one, going 4.068 at 200.86 against Moyer's 4.058 at 200.35 mph, while Sugrue opened with a 7.378 win over California's Dan Myers, who redlighted away his chances in his supercharged '57 Chevy.

Glidden opened with a 3.969-seconds solo pass at 187.50 mph, but his day ended with traction woes in round two against Swindoll, who ran 4.075 at 195.82. Sugrue advanced to the final with a 4.410 solo pass after points leader Alan Pittman's screw-blown '09 Mustang broke on the line.

In the final, Swindoll left first with a solid .027 light, but slowed to a 5.380 run at just over 95 mph, while Sugrue had a dismal .166 reaction, but made his best run of the weekend at 4.029 seconds and 192.93 mph.

"This is a great feeling. We have to remember it and internalize it," Sugrue said. "This is the big leagues and to win something like this is amazing for us; really, really special."

TUTTEROW TAKES ADRL PRO MOD WIN TO INDY

By ProTorque - 9/25/2012

TUTTEROW TAKES ADRL PRO MOD WIN TO INDYTodd Tutterow had little time to enjoy the accolades Sep. 8, after winning the Pro Modified title at the ADRL Memphis Drags III, as his twin-turbocharged '70 Duster went straight to the trailer and his crew loaded up for a 500-mile, on-through-the-night dash to Indianapolis where they were already qualified to race in the rain-postponed U.S. Nationals.

Still, the 2009 ADRL Pro Extreme champ did say he's gradually learning how to run turbocharged combinations after managing nitrous and supercharged engines for many years.

"Yeah, I think we're getting a handle on it," the Yadkinville, NC-based veteran allowed after nearly matching his top qualifying time of 3.906 seconds with a 3.909 victory at 199.02 mph against Swedish racer Adam Flamholc in the Pro Mod final at Memphis International Raceway.

With only an eight-car field, Tutterow beat Dave Roemer and Mike Janis to reach the final, while Flamholc, who also headed to Indy right after the Memphis final, handled Rick Stivers with a holeshot win and beat Pat Musi in the semis.

By ProTorque - 9/25/2012

Mark Koehler - 2012 Holley LS Fest LSx Drag Radial WinnerAfter his shutoff pass in the opening session, Mark Koehler came back for round two and made a big statement, running 7.679 at 183.05 MPH to put an even larger gap between himself and the rest of the field.

Mark Koehler stepped it up in the final session, storming to a great 7.559 at 189.18 MPH to solidify his top qualifying spot going into this afternoons eliminations.

Mark Koehler got the benefit of another break single, legging it out to a mostly nice and straight 7.612 at 185.21 MPH. In the final round, he'll face #2 qualifier Steven Fereday, who was slow to get rolling but had enough to chase down Adam Preston on the top end, 7.998 at a booming 190.57 MPH to a game 8.194 at 168.85.

The Drag Radial final ended up just as it should be, with the top two qualifiers and the only two cars to dip into the 7's all weekend facing off for all the marbles. Mark Koehler was dead late, but made his best run of the weekend to top Steven Fereday, whose 7.932 was no match for Koehler's 7.511 at 189.60 MPH.

ADRL Dragstock: Brad Brand XTF Champion

Written by Ian Tocher, Bobby Bennett Photos by Roger Richards. 8/3/2012

THE WINNING BRAND - xtf winner If Brad Brand had his way, he may not have won the Extreme 10.5 (XTF) class at Dragstock IX.

ADRL Dragstock: Brad Brand XTF Champion"I hadn't been down the track good at all and if it hadn't been for one of my crew guys I probably wouldn't have made it again," the Loganville, GA, racer admitted after beating Dan Myers in the XTF final at zMAX Dragway in Concord, NC. "He convinced me to turn things down and I'm glad he did."

With a 3.984-seconds pass at 197.59 mph, Brand qualified his twin-turbocharged 2007 Mustang third in the eight-car field behind Billy Glidden and polesitter Alan Pittman, but once eliminations began he fought to find traction on the hot zMAX racing surface.

A tire-spinning 4.442 at 171.93 managed to boost Brand past an even more traction-challenged Todd Moyer in round one and a 4.497 at just 139.57 still advanced him from the semis when Glidden got out of shape and had to shutoff and coast to a seven-second finish.

"This morning in the first round when we smoked the tires I thought, 'Man, it's going to be a rough day,' but it turned out to be okay. But seriously, we struggled all day and I'm just kind of stubborn about turning this thing down. But I just had to turn it down for the final and it worked," Brand said after posting a winning 4.069 at 195.28 against Myers' 4.727 at 119.98-mph effort.

"Man, I pedaled and it went into a big, turbo-like wheelstand just past half-track," Myers said of his screw-blown '57 Chevy from Ramona, CA. "I had to get out of it just to save the car."

Three times Brand has raced the Mustang with the ADRL this year and three times he's reached the final round, recording a runner-up finish to Pittman in April at Bristol, TN, but beating Pittman in June at Richmond, VA, before scoring again at zMAX.

Brand also was racing a turbocharged '53 Corvette for R2B2 Racing at Dragstock IX, but narrowly missed getting it into the eight-car Pro Mod field for eliminations after he and Pete Farber ran identical 4.009 ETs in qualifying. At 191.10 mph, however, Farber was faster by .40 to take the final spot.

"I don't even touch this car (Mustang) between races and it almost seems like I can do nothing wrong with it," Brand said. "But the Vette is completely another story. I'm behind the eight ball with that thing. I've got a lot of testing to do with it."

Pro Street Super Bowl Winner Don Walsh JrIn Kooks Custom Headers Pro Street Don Walsh Jr., a former NMRA Pro 5.0 champion, reclaimed his spot on top after beating former PSCA champ, Clint Hairston in a battle of turbocharged entries.

Hairston was the number one qualifier with an impressive 6.03 at 245 MPH, while Walsh, Jr., coming off a recent NHRA Pro Modified win at Norwalk, Ohio, had some trouble figuring the car out in qualifying, but showed the car's power with a series of 250 MPH passes.

And on Sunday, when it counted most, Walsh Jr., and his team, had the car figured out.

All ProTorque Final: Mike Murillo over Donnie Walsh
Mike Murillo Super Bowl WinnerAfter breaking a valve in the semifinals of Super Street/Pro Outlaw 10.5W, everyone thought they'd seen the last of Mike Murillo.

That was, until he rolled out from underneath the Route 66 tower alongside Pro Street champ Don Walsh Jr. as the designated representative of the NMRA squad.

Walsh had the quicker reaction time and was tracking down Murillo in a hurry, but the Precision turbo machine made one pass too many this weekend, letting go with a loud 'pop' at half track and trailing a long plume of smoke through the shutdown area as Murillo sailed to victory at 7.07-seconds, 189.23 mph to give the NMRA it's fifth overall title in seven editions of this exciting annual showdown.

And the NMRA team, as they say, went wild!

4 272 Roger Burgess, '53 Corvette 6.001 249.90 249.90

Three of the top four qualified drivers had two things in common: they were running Precision turbochargers and using Pro Torque converters! It was Troy Coughlin who took the number one honors with his 5.949 at 250.64 MPH pass in his '68 Chevy Camaro, while Don Walsh, Jr. ranked third with a 5.983 at 248.71 MPH run in his '11 Ford Mustang. Roger Burgess of R2B2 Racing was the number four qualifier after having gone 6.001 at 249.90 MPH in his '53 Corvette and his teammate Leah Pruett was eighth overall with a run of 6.098 at 248.25 MPH. Steve Matusek was unable to break into the Top 16 but still had a solid run.

In the first round of eliminations, Walsh had a great run and scored a win with his 5.955 at 252.14 MPH trip, while Burgess was also victorious going 6.159 at 219.69 MPH. Coughlin's opponent broke at the start so he had an easy victory, but still put in a strong pass of 6.180 at 223.32 MPH. Pruett was first off the line in her match but was unable to hold off her challenger, going 6.328 at 240.55 MPH.

In round two, all three remaining Precision boosted drivers won their races and would all advance! Walsh went 5.896 at 246.21 MPH, Coughlin went 5.909 at 250.83 MPH and Burgess went 6.024 at 249.26 MPH. Walsh took out the only non-PTE car left with a huge 5.887 at 253.85 MPH run and would face off against Coughlin.

Troy Coughlin tried to keep Donnie Walsh At Bay In The Finlas But LostRoger Burgess Went to the semifinals

The final round was all Precision-powered and incredibly exciting as this was the first time that Coughlin and Walsh would face each other in eliminations. Coughlin had the early starting line advantage but the car started to get sideways and forced him to shut it down. Walsh launched hard and went straight down the center of the track, running a 5.893 at 251.95 MPH pass - the second quickest and fastest pass of the event, for the win!

Congratulations to Don Walsh, Jr. on his first National event win in only his second final round! With this victory, Walsh moves to fourth in the series points standing. He runs twin NHRA legal Precision Pro Mod 88 turbochargers, a Big Stuff 3 Powertrain Management System and a Pro Torque converter.

The Northeast as much of the country was under oppressive heat over many days during the beginning of July 7th Weekend. The pavement at Cecil County Dragway was not impervious to the blazing temps that swelled up over the Saturday Street Car Shootout Series By Finishline Performance.

Without a doubt, heat, takes its toll on parts like Torque Converters but ProTorque Racing Torque Converters showed their muscle and durability in temps ranging upwards of 130+ degrees on the well managed surface of Cecil County Dragway adding again to the list of clients that now have more winners circle appearances or runner ups and best of for the season.

Inevitably it comes down to a complete effort by teams such as to be mentioned that their work and choice of converters plus the other main ingredients make a sound combination to move through rounds consistently.

Worlds QUICKEST Turbo Pro Mod Car ADRL Virginia | Danny Lowry 3.802 @ 203.40mph:

By ProTorque - 7/1/2012

Worlds QUICKEST Turbo Pro Mod Car ADRL Virginia | Danny Lowry 3.802 @ 203.40mphRICHMOND, VA (June 23rd) -The ADRL U.S. Drags V event at Virginia Motorsports Park was full of ups and downs for Pro Extreme racer Danny Lowry. However, the ups far outweighed the downs as he and the Pro Line Racing crew sent out a message to the racing world. RECORD SETTING VIDEO INCLUDED HERE!!

With one marvelous run, ADRL Pro Extreme driver Danny Lowry became the guy everyone will look up to in the turbo world.

Lowry, though, will admit to having plenty of help to reach his current pinnacle.

At the recent ADRL U.S. Drags V at Virginia Motorsports Park, Lowry put together the quickest turbocharged pass in drag racing history, running an incredible 3.802 en route to a first round win in Richmond.

The remarkable 3.802 eclipses Grant McCrary's 3.84 for the quickest 1/8-mile pass for any turbo-powered car. It also tops the 3.844 and the 3.868 that NHRA Pro Mod drivers Brad Personett and Melanie Troxel ran, respectively, during their passes of 5.772 at Englishtown in 2011.

Troxel set the NHRA Pro Mod record with her 5.772 in the quarter-mile, but Lowry and his 2009 Mustang built by Joey Martin Race Cars can now lay claim to the quickest 1/8-mile turbo pass in the history of the sport, something he doesn't take lightly.

"It's something that, being a turbo guy, I've dreamed about for a long time. I'm thrilled to get the opportunity to do this, but I'm also able to do this for a lot of reasons," said Lowry, a Griffin, Ga. native. "It's a credit to Eric Dillard at Pro Line Racing, Harry (Hruska) at Precision Turbo and Joe Rivera at Pro Torque Converters.

"His combination of torque, the power of the Precision Turbo, Pro Line engines and Rossler Transmission, it really gives you the opportunity to do this. I think something like this is a testament to the entire turbo community. Now that we've figured this out, we're going to run really fast."

Lowry is already there, clocking an impressive 203.40 mph during the record-breaking run after qualifying No. 14 with a 3.85 at 198 mph.

The run is made all the more eye-opening when the conditions are taken into account as well, as the track temperature neared 120 degrees during the 3.802.

The run also gave him a first-round win against Alex Hossler, though Lowry is still kicking himself over what happened a round later.

Potential opponents Todd Martin and Brandon Pesz both broke, giving Lowry a bye run to the semifinals. But, with the sun making the tree hard to see, Lowry left before the tree was activated, throwing away a run he guessed to be in the "low-to-mid 3.70s."

"We figured low-to-mid 3.70s at 207 or 208 mph. But I bumped the car into the second bulb and I could barely see the light. I thought the tree had dropped, but I left too soon and made a mistake," Lowry said. "When you get down to it, it was driver error and I didn't do my job.

"We pulled through the first 60 feet and the front split a lot better, and (tuner) Steve (Petty) could sense it was a fast run."

The real payoff could come next week at the ADRL Summer Drags VIII at U.S. 131 Motorsports Park in Martin, Mich.

Lowry left Virginia disappointed over the end outcome in Virginia, but he remains fully confident in the potential still to be tapped in his turbo Mustang.

"I fully anticipate rolling the car out in Martin and running a mid-3.70s at least," Lowry said. "From there, our goal is to qualify in the front half of the field and dip into the 3.60s. I don't want to act like a jerk or like I'm bragging or anything, but that's our expectations."

It's not arrogant, but rather just Lowry's aggressive mindset, which dates back to his outlaw 10.5 racing days.

After Martin built the standout lightweight Mustang for the ADRL's Pro Extreme class, Dillard and Lowry, who had worked closely in Lowry's 10.5 racing days, felt as though it would be a perfect car to become a turbocharged standout.

After plenty of work and finding the right combination for the lightweight car, Lowry made his ADRL debut in Bristol in April after only two test sessions.

The car showed promise, running a 3.933 at 188 mph, but it wasn't enough to qualify.

Lowry, Dillard and Petty made the necessary changes, tweaking the converter and chassis and left Virginia with a record and a standout performance.

Lowry, though, is certain the best is yet to come.

"These guys in the ADRL are really, really good and I have a great deal of admiration for them as drivers," Lowry said. "But I think our turbo combination is going to be really good and hopefully it's going to be hard to beat when we get it where we want it."

Brad Brand ADRL Extreme 10.5 (XTF) Champion:

By ProTorque - 6/30/2012

Brad Brand ADRL Extreme 10.5 (XTF) Champion"Bad Brad" Brand, also known as "Triple B," pulled double duty June 21-22, driving both his own car in Extreme 10.5 (XTF) and Roger Burgess' twin-turbocharged '53 Corvette in the Pro Modified class for the ADRL U.S. Drags V.

He didn't last long in Pro Mod, falling to Jeff Naiser in round one, but Brand made it all the way to the winner's circle at Virginia Motorsports Park in spectacular fashion with his twin-turboed, RJ Race Cars-built 2007 Mustang.

"I wish I could've had a little more test time with the Vette because I think we could've done some more there, but it was kind of a last-minute deal," Brand explained. "This car, though, since last year has been flawless. We haven't done anything to the motor; Jon Kaase does the work on it, since Vegas last fall when we set a 10-inch tire record with it. We took it to the ADRL race at Bristol, ran it here and got the win. One for two, that ain't bad."

Billy Glidden qualified first in the eight-car XTF field with a career-best 3.859 at 191.70 in his Mickey Thompson-backed, nitrous-huffing 2010 Mustang, but Brand was right behind in second place after a 3.938 at 197.94-mph run. Glidden lost in the first round, however, to the screw-blown '09 Mustang of Alan Pittman, who after beating a tire-smoking Dan Myers with a 4.046 pass at 192.82 in the semis, would meet Brand in the XTF final.

After dispatching Dennis Sugrue from the opening round of eliminations, Brand earned lane choice for the final with a 3.972 at 197.83 win over Chuck Ulsch and his screw-blown '68 Camaro. Brand ran low ET in each of three rounds of eliminations.

Pittman, who won the season's first two races (including at Bristol where he won over Brand in the final), left first with a .031 reaction to Brand's .075, but his 4.022 at 194.63 was no match for a wheelstanding 3.949-seconds pass at 185.72 mph by the Loganville, GA, driver.

"It got out there and stood up and I had to pedal it again," Brand said. "It kind of got near the wall, but I felt pretty comfortable it would come down okay so I just stayed in it. It was a good run." See The Highlight Wheelie Videos On The ADRL TV Channel Here (Brad Brand At 2.00 Minutes In)

Andrew Demarco First To The 200's On MT 275's | ProTorque Converters Records:

By ProTorque - 6/25/2012

Andrew Demarco First To The 200's On MT 275's | ProTorque Converters RecordsThe evolution of horsepower and performance in the heads-up doorslammer drag racing world in recent times has been nothing short of staggering, and each year, heck, each week it seems another benchmark is shattered that was once considered a pipe dream at best.

Well, now we've got another one to add to that list.

On Saturday, Massachusetts native Andrew DeMarco reeled off what we believe to be and what our good friends at Mickey Thompson Performance Tires & Wheels have confirmed as the first 200 mph pass on a pair of 275 Drag Radial tires in his turbocharged '86 Ford Mustang GT with what's being described as an "easy" 7.82 at 201 mph on a set of the new M/T Radial Pro tires at the New England Dragway.

DeMarco, running out of the DMC Racing shop along with his brother, David, who competes in the NMCA Super Street 10.5W class, debuted the sinister Fox body in the NMRA back in 2010 in the Super Street Outlaw category and quickly became one of the frontrunners in the "10-Inch Tire Freak Show" with his Proline-powered mount. DeMarco, however, recently stepped away from the NMRA scene and has focused his attention on the bustling X275 eliminator that's all the rage up in the Northeast near his Malden, Mass. home.

With personal bests in Super Street Outlaw trim in the very low seven-second range, there's no question that DeMarco eased his way to "just" a 7.82-second lap, thus leaving to question just how much more the car has left in it. If the Radials are indeed quicker and faster than the True 10.5's (and many believe that they are), we could soon see the first six-second pass on 275's in the very near future, as well.

NMCA Racing June 9th |
Bill Lutz Makes Quickest Pass In NMCA History At 5.97:

By ProTorque - 6/23/2012

Bill Lutz, NMCA Pro Street Record 5.97 @ 247If there's one event on the Flowmaster NMCA Muscle Car Nationals schedule where records exist for the sole purpose of being broken, it's the series annual visit to the always-quick Maryland International Raceway in early June. Last year, in the NMCA's inaugural visit to the Miller families speed palace in Mechanicsville, Md., records were shattered, and Pro Street ace Bill Lutz continued the tradition as the series returned over the weekend, carrying his twin-turbocharged 1969 Camaro to a pair of new national records and the quickest elapsed time in the history of the class.

In the third and final qualifying session under the lights on Saturday evening, Lutz tripped the 60-foot clocks at 1.017 and covered the first 660-feet in 3.987-seconds at 194.27 MPH on his way to a thundering 5.978 at 247.43 MPH. That effort by the Winchese, Ohio native surpassed the all-time best 5.98 recorded by Chris Rini last fall in Indianapolis and also outpaced his 6.02 in qualifying in Maryland to leapfrog him into the No. 1 qualifying slot. The NMCA/Fastest Street Car Magazine crew captured the footage of the record run - See The Video Here

Because Lutz had run a 6.03 earlier in the day during the second qualifier, he already had the backup in hand to make the 5.97 the first ever sub-six second national record in NMCA history. An earlier trap speed of 246.84 also served as the required backup for the national speed record that's still a couple digits shy of Steve Matusek's 250 MPH shot last season.

Just to put an exclamation point on the weekend, Lutz downed the other Lutz - Jeff (no relation) - to earn the Pro Street crown on Sunday afternoon, rolling to a 6.09 at 241.37 MPH as Jeff slowed on the top end.

All ProTorque Final Mike Murillo vs David Demarco NMCA Super Street 10.5:

Mike Murillo NMCA Super Street 10.5All ProTorque Final Mike Murillo vs David Demarco Super Street 10.5

In Mickey Thompson Super Street 10.5W Mike Murillo grabbed another win over number one qualifier David DeMarco in a battle of nerves, as both drivers slid around the track in the heat of the day. Murillo ended up on top with a 6.90 to DeMarco's 8.28

Missing from the first two Mickey Thompson Super Street 10.5W qualifying sessions was David DeMarco, but rather than kicking back in the toterhome, he was working to remedy engine and electrical issues. After having parts delivered over night, he finished just in time to make the final qualifying session, where he laid down a 6.52 at 231 in his Proline-built 540 cubic-inch twin Precision turbos car. He was forced to lift during his first round bye-run, but blasted to a 7.12 at 187 in the second round for the win over a troubled Brian Hicks.

"A lot of crew, racers and friends really stepped up, and Proline really stepped up and worked hard, and a huge weight is lifted off my shoulders," said DeMarco. "I have to thank my crew chief, Jamie Miller, and my crew, including Doug, Sondra, Big Money and George Rumore and also Victory Racecraft."

MIR Midnight Madness | Another ALL ProTorque Final Fiscus Vs FoxThe Fiscus/Klugger Racing team has been on quite a roll this season. With Josh Klugger's 1st win in the bag and a handful of record breaking passes, this team is harder to be than ever!

They showed up to Outlaw Drag Radial event called Midnight Madness, held on Friday, May 25th at MIR. Kevin Fiscus resumed driving duties of the PLR 632ci BBF powered Mustang. Fiscus started the day nicely with a 4.43 @ 176mph to take the #2 qualifying spot behind Maryland native, Ricky Fox.

Fiscus defeated Rich Bruder with a 4.40 @ 175mph and Brad Edwards with a 4.40 @ 177mph! In the final round Fiscus had to face ANOTHER ProTorque customer Ricky Fox. Fox left the line first with a .033 advantage, but his 4.45 @ 169mph was not enough as Fiscus drove by with an impressive 4.35 @ 178mph!

We'd like to congratulate Kevin, Josh and the whole Fiscus/Klugger Racing team on another big victory this year!

Winner Kevin Fiscus over Kyle Huettel Would be next for the team with another All ProTorque Final in The Texas Vs the World

Cecil County Street Car Shootout Season Opener And ProTorque Customers.

By ProTorque | Don Bailey DCB Enterprises- 5/1/2012

Craig Pio Outlaw 10.5 Cecil County Street Car ShootoutDuring the off season in the northeast one of the most successful series of the Mid Atlantic, Northeast states was getting a track upgrade for them to race on, The Finishline Performance Saturday Street Car Shootout at Cecil County Dragway would get some new concrete. Jim Halsey "a contractor himself" had already set into motion the revamp of the track surface by tearing it up to 800+ feet and laying down a full concrete track with a transition to blacktop afterwards, a totally new track. Jim Halsey, a Pro Modified owner / driver in ADRL, IHRA, knows what the track needed to get the most out of some of the quickest cars in the northeast.

The first race of the season was delayed as the track had not yet been finished to handle these cars and the series. The last week in April would suffice albeit a severe chance of rain would halt the action as rounds began. Prior to the opening, ProTorque Torque Converter equipped racers put the rubber down on Friday for a test and tune flowing into qualifying on Saturday created on both days some of the best times and low ET's of their careers. Some New Personal Best Times are as follows: Craig Pio 4.14 (new track record) Outlaw 10.5, Shawn Zubler 4.24 @ 184MPH Outlaw 10.5, picked up .04 and 9 mph, Tommy Kasper 4.17 Outlaw 10.5, Steve Gorman 4.19 Outlaw 10.5, Bill Dutka Drag Radial new personal best 1.22 60ft 4.62

Granted much work had been done to the cars during the winter months, engines, tuning and more but you have to get the power to the ground and a ProTorque Converters shows it gets it done. Below are some statistics of ProTorque Racers accomplishments at Cecil County in no particular order, we're just glad they benefited from our Torque Converter. Holly Springs Outlaw Drag Radial Review ProTorque, Fiscus, Jackson, Kolivas

By ProTorque - 5/1/2012

Holly Springs Outlaw Drag Radial Review ProTorque Kevin FiscusKevin Fiscus with the first TURBO Drag Radial cars 4.27 at 190 mph ( unfortunately Kenny Hubbard a blower car with another brand of converter actually took the record this weekend L )

The first official 4.2X run was a 4.283 at 179.95 MPH and was then backed up with a shocking 4.267 at 179.50 later that night. After that performance Friday night Hubbard went on to capture the Drag Radial elapsed time record, running a 4.275 at 179.64 in the final qualifying session as the No. 1 qualifier in Patriot Performance True 10.5. Not to be outdone, Kevin Fiscus put the Hurricane Performance twin turbo Mustang on kill, running a 4.278 at 187.27 during the test session Friday, making his run the quickest and fastest for a legal Outlaw Drag Radial car.

Steve Jackson Runner up against John Kolivas Win at Holly Springs
Steve Jackson Is Quoted "I want to thank some folks for their help this weekend. We broke our rear end on the first run and Kenny Hubbard immediately brought their spare center section over and let us borrow it. He wouldnt take a dime for rental. Also thanks to Dennis Bailey. He brought us a drum of Nitro to the track sunday morning because we ran out.

My crew worked their asses off this weekend. Kolivas was a gentleman before and after kicking my ass in the final. The crew at Holly springs worked their butts off keeping the track on kill. I hate it that we werent ready to take advantage of such an awesome track. We showed up with our dirt road setup and it took a whole day to get the car turned around and ready to haul ass. Next time we come to Holly Springs, we will have our big boy pants on when we roll through the gate.

Congrats to Hubbard and Fiscus on an awesome back and forth show of 4.20 passes. You guys deserve everything that you get. Both are nice folks and pilot bad ass hotrods".

John Urist Claims Sixth NMRA Championship

By ProTorque - 4/18/2012

John Urist Claims Sixth NMRA Championship Urist closed out qualifying in the third slot with a 7.38 effort, and would face Chris Burleson in the opening round. After sending Burleson and round two opponent Travis Franklin home early, John received a competition bye in the third round that would place him straight into the final. But in an interesting turn of events, Macdonald experienced parts breakage in round two and was unable to meet Chip Havemann in the third round, and the door was then wide open for Urist and Team Hellion to make their move. In the final round, Havemann was no match for Urist, as John blasted off into the darkness for the win that earned him enough points to claim his sixth NMRA crown.

Said Urist, "Winning our sixth championship was not only incredibly exciting but also extremely rewarding. After all the seasons ups and downs, we were able to win our 6th for not only team Hellion, but for all our sponsors as well. Without their support we could not have won this year. We look forward to defending our championship next year!"

After a round one opponent broke bye, Jim Monson bursting the intercooler losing water and coming up light on the scales in round two and a near miss accident as Frank Meshaw crossed the center line and went over on his roof in the semis one might say he had an easy road but the car runs very well and Laferriere put up a game race in the final with Murillo taking the win by about .06 at the stripe.
